We all know having a baby can be very expensive. I was looking for ways to save money on everything possible when I was pregnant. Some things I didn’t know about until after I had W, but I was still able to sign up for rewards and cash in on tons of coupons.
I went ahead and made a list to help new moms find their savings all in one place.
*Disclaimer-Some items will vary and will require you to pay shipping, take time to fill out forms and cancel certain memberships but its well worth the cash values.
1. Free Breast Pump
Most insurance companies now cover for breastfeeding equipment. Check with your insurance provider first to find out what pumps are covered and how to get it. Every company is different on how you obtain one. Whether you fill out a form online provided by your insurance company, have a co-pay or pay for the whole thing to only be reimbursed after it arrives.
When I contacted my insurance company, it was hassle free. All I had to do was fill out a form from a website they provided through them, and it displayed breast pumps that were covered. Chose which one I wanted and it was shipped free to my home a few months before my due date. I choose the Signature Pro Double Electric Breast Pump and was very pleased. Don’t have any regrets on choosing it, because I was planning to use many of their products and thought why not use the same brand for my pump.
I used so many of their products: *the milk storage bags (LOVED- a must for building a milk storage-I reused them 2-3 times each, they start to leak after 4 reuses), * nursing pads (used many in the first few months), *lanolin cream (LOVED- used before, during and after when I was really sore from nursing in the beginning + its safe for baby), *got extra storage bottles (mainly just needed extra to tote to work and back), *hand-free bra (LOVED- a must! I used it every time I pumped), even the *Pearl Therapy 3 in 1 pack (used a handful of times both hot an cold to help with engorgement-they were decent, but not a must in my opinion). You can find out more about each of their products if you want to know more here.
Went ahead and bought an AC power inverter for my car so I could pump to and from work and get 2 extra pumps in. I had a long commute to work which took me 30 min or more depending on traffic. I would pump the whole time but in increments on & off to stay stimulated. This really helped increase my supply once I had to return back to work.
